If I have to talk about my least favourite movie, I would definitely like to tell you about an action movie I watched with some friends last year.
Personally, I think it was such a disappointing movie because the trailer looked really exciting, but the actual film wasn’t nearly as good as I expected.
We watched it at a cinema during the summer holiday. A few of my friends had seen the trailer online and suggested watching it together.
The story was basically about a group of people trying to save a city from a dangerous criminal. There were lots of car chases, explosions and fight scenes.
At first, I thought I was going to enjoy it because the opening scene was quite exciting. But after about thirty minutes, the story became really predictable.
The biggest problem for me was that the characters didn’t seem realistic and I couldn’t relate to any of them. There were also so many action scenes that they started to feel repetitive.
At one point, I actually lost interest completely and started wondering how much longer the movie had left.
When it finally ended, my friends and I looked at each other and laughed because none of us had enjoyed it very much.
I felt a little disappointed because we’d had high expectations before watching it. Since then, I’ve become much more careful about choosing a movie just because its trailer looks good.

Có lúc mình hoàn toàn mất hứng thú và bắt đầu tự hỏi còn bao lâu nữa phim mới hết.

Does cultural background affect the kinds of movies people like?
SAMPLE ANSWER
Yeah, I think it probably does, although it’s not the only factor. People often relate more easily to stories, jokes or family situations that are familiar to them. For example, a comedy based heavily on local slang might be hilarious to people from that country but quite confusing to foreign viewers. Having said that, some themes, like love, friendship or family, are pretty universal. So cultural background matters, but a good movie can still appeal to a wide audience.

Do movies require more creativity than books?
SAMPLE ANSWER
Hmm, I’ve never really thought about that. I wouldn’t say one necessarily requires more creativity because they’re just different forms of storytelling. A writer has to create a whole world using only words, while filmmakers have to think about acting, music, lighting and visual effects as well. For example, a book can describe what a character is thinking directly, but a movie has to find a way to show that through acting or images. So I think both require creativity, just in different ways.

Is it better to watch movies at home or at the cinema?
SAMPLE ANSWER
For me, it depends on the type of movie. If it’s a big action or science-fiction film, the cinema is probably better because the huge screen and sound system make it more exciting. But for an ordinary comedy, I’d rather watch it at home because I can pause it, get snacks and make myself comfortable. Going to the cinema can also be quite expensive for students. So I don’t think one is always better than the other.

What kinds of movies are popular with young people?
SAMPLE ANSWER
Well, I’m not completely sure because people’s tastes are really different. But from what I see among my friends, action movies, comedies and horror films seem to be quite popular. I think one reason is that they’re easy to watch with a group of friends and give people something to talk about afterwards. For example, even if a horror movie isn’t amazing, going to see it with friends can still be fun because everyone reacts differently.
