PART 2+3Giải đề Speaking Quý 3/2026
Describe a happy person you know.
IELTS SPEAKING PART 2
Describe a happy person you know.
You should say:
- Who this person is
- What they are like
- How they show their happiness
- And explain why you think they are happy
PART 2 · SAMPLE ANSWER
If I have to talk about a happy person I know, I would definitely like to tell you about one of my close friends.
Personally, I think she’s such a positive person because she seems to enjoy small things that other people often ignore.
I’ve known her for several years because we study at the same school.
She’s quite talkative and friendly, and she laughs very easily. Even when something goes wrong, she usually finds a way to joke about it instead of complaining for a long time.
At first, I thought she was happy because she simply didn’t have many problems. But after getting to know her better, I realised that wasn’t true.
She also gets stressed about exams and sometimes has arguments with her parents, just like everyone else. The difference is that she doesn’t dwell on problems for too long.
For example, if she gets a disappointing score, she may feel upset for a while, but then she tries to understand what went wrong and moves on.
I think she’s happy because she has a supportive family, close friends and, more importantly, she knows how to appreciate what she has.
Being around her usually puts me in a better mood, so I really enjoy spending time with her.

Discussion Questions
6 câu hỏi
1
Is having a job you like important for happiness?
SAMPLE ANSWER
Yeah, I think it’s quite important because adults spend a huge part of their lives at work. If someone really hates their job, that stress may spill over into their personal life. But I don’t think everyone needs to have a dream job. For some people, having stable income and enough free time for family may matter more. So happiness probably depends on the balance between work, money and personal life.
USEFUL VOCABULARY
spill over into someone’s personal lifeảnh hưởng lan sang đời sống cá nhân
stable incomethu nhập ổn định
dream jobcông việc mơ ước
2
What makes students happy?
SAMPLE ANSWER
Hmm, there are lots of things. Obviously, getting good results can make students happy, but I don’t think grades are everything. Having close friends, feeling supported by teachers and having enough free time also matter. For example, even a student with excellent grades may feel miserable if they’re under constant pressure. So I think students need both achievement and a sense of balance.
USEFUL VOCABULARY
feel supportedcảm thấy được hỗ trợ
under constant pressurechịu áp lực liên tục
a sense of balancecảm giác cân bằng
3
When are people usually happiest in life?
SAMPLE ANSWER
I’m not really sure there’s one particular age. Children may be happy because they have fewer responsibilities, but adults may have more freedom and control over their lives. Older people may also feel happy if they have strong family relationships and fewer work pressures. So I think happiness depends more on someone’s situation than their age. Different stages of life probably bring different kinds of happiness.
USEFUL VOCABULARY
fewer responsibilitiesít trách nhiệm hơn
have control over your lifecó quyền kiểm soát cuộc sống
different stages of lifecác giai đoạn khác nhau của cuộc đời
4
Can art create positive emotions?
SAMPLE ANSWER
Definitely. Music, films or paintings can lift people’s mood and sometimes help them express feelings they can’t easily put into words. For example, when I’m tired after studying, listening to music can help me relax quite quickly. Of course, not all art is meant to make people happy; some art is sad or disturbing. But even that can make people feel understood or encourage them to think.
USEFUL VOCABULARY
lift someone’s moodcải thiện tâm trạng ai
put feelings into wordsdiễn đạt cảm xúc bằng lời
encourage someone to thinkkhiến ai suy ngẫm
5
Can teachers tell when a child is unhappy?
SAMPLE ANSWER
Sometimes, yes, especially if they know the child well. A normally talkative student may suddenly become very quiet or stop participating in class. But teachers only see children for part of the day, so they may miss some warning signs. A child could seem completely normal at school but have problems at home. That’s why communication between teachers and parents can be important.
USEFUL VOCABULARY
miss warning signsbỏ lỡ những dấu hiệu cảnh báo
participate in classtham gia vào giờ học
communication between teachers and parentssự trao đổi giữa giáo viên và phụ huynh
6
Should teachers know everything about their students?
SAMPLE ANSWER
No, I don’t think that’s necessary or realistic. Teachers need to know enough to support students’ learning and notice serious problems, but students also need some privacy. For example, a teenager may not want to tell a teacher about every disagreement with a friend. So teachers should probably build trust and be available when students need help rather than trying to know every detail of their lives.
USEFUL VOCABULARY
build trustxây dựng niềm tin
need some privacycần có sự riêng tư
be available when someone needs helpsẵn sàng khi ai cần giúp
