If I have to talk about a time I received good service in a shop, I would definitely like to tell you about buying a pair of shoes last year.
Personally, I think the service was really impressive because the salesperson was helpful without putting any pressure on me to buy something.
It happened at a sports shop in a shopping centre.
I needed a new pair of trainers because my old ones had become uncomfortable.
At first, I picked a pair mainly because I liked the colour. But when I tried them on, the salesperson asked me what I was going to use them for.
When I explained that I wanted them for walking and occasional exercise, she told me that the pair I’d chosen probably wasn’t the best option.
I was quite surprised because it was actually one of the more expensive pairs.
Instead of trying to sell me the most expensive thing, she brought out several cheaper options and explained the differences.
She also let me walk around the shop for a few minutes to see which pair felt most comfortable.
In the end, I bought a pair that was cheaper than my original choice and suited me much better.
I really appreciated the fact that she put my needs before making a sale.
That experience made me much more likely to shop there again.

SAMPLE ANSWER
Generally, yes, because when people buy products and services, businesses earn money and can employ workers. But spending alone isn’t always positive if people borrow too much or buy things they don’t need. For example, strong consumer demand can help shops and restaurants, but excessive debt can create problems later. So spending supports the economy, but it probably needs to be sustainable.

For example, clothes may look great in a photo but fit badly when they arrive. Returns can also be inconvenient, so online shopping isn’t perfect for everything.

Is online shopping better than shopping in stores?
SAMPLE ANSWER
It depends on what I’m buying. For something simple like a phone case or book, online shopping is easier and often cheaper. But for clothes, shoes or expensive electronics, I prefer seeing the product before paying. Stores also allow customers to ask staff questions immediately. So I think online and offline shopping are useful for different situations.

Why do some people dislike small shops?
SAMPLE ANSWER
Maybe because small shops sometimes have fewer products and prices may be slightly higher. Customers may also prefer the convenience of large stores where they can buy everything in one place. But personally, I think small shops can feel much friendlier. So it probably depends on whether someone values choice and price or personal service more.

One advantage is that owners may know their customers and give more personal recommendations. Small shops can also give an area more character instead of every street having the same big chains. But they may struggle to compete on price because they buy smaller quantities. Their opening hours may also be more limited. So they offer a different experience, but not always the cheapest one.

Why are shopping malls popular?
