IELTS SPEAKING PART 2
Describe a noisy place you have been to.
You should say:
- Where it was
- When you went there
- What you did there
- And explain why it was noisy
PART 2 · SAMPLE ANSWER
If I have to talk about a noisy place I’ve been to, I would definitely like to tell you about a night market I visited during a family trip.
Personally, I think it was such a lively place because there were people, music and food stalls everywhere, although after a while the noise became a little overwhelming.
I went there with my family last summer.
We mainly wanted to try some local food and walk around the market.
As soon as we arrived, I noticed how noisy it was. Vendors were calling out to customers, music was playing from several shops and hundreds of people were talking at the same time.
At first, I actually enjoyed it because the noise added to the atmosphere and made the place feel exciting.
But after about an hour, I started finding it difficult to hear what my family was saying.
At one point, my mother asked me what I wanted to eat, and I had to ask her to repeat herself three times.
We eventually found a small eating area away from the busiest part of the market.
It was still noisy, but at least we could have a normal conversation.
I enjoyed visiting the market because it was memorable, but I was also quite relieved when we got away from the noise.

Discussion Questions
6 câu hỏi
1
Should people be more considerate when talking in public?
SAMPLE ANSWER
Yeah, I think so, especially in places where people expect some quiet, like public transport or waiting rooms. There’s nothing wrong with talking, but speaking extremely loudly can disturb everyone around you. For example, hearing one side of someone’s phone conversation for an entire bus journey can be quite annoying. So people don’t need to stay silent; they just need to be aware of their surroundings.
USEFUL VOCABULARY
disturb everyone around youlàm phiền mọi người xung quanh
be aware of your surroundingschú ý đến môi trường xung quanh
public transportphương tiện công cộng
2
How do people usually react to noise?
SAMPLE ANSWER
It depends on the type of noise and how long it lasts. If it’s temporary, like construction for a few minutes, most people may simply put up with it. But constant noise, especially at night, can get on people’s nerves and lead to complaints. Some people are also much more sensitive to sound than others. So the same level of noise can be fine for one person and unbearable for another.
USEFUL VOCABULARY
put up with somethingchịu đựng điều gì
get on someone’s nerveslàm ai khó chịu
be sensitive to soundnhạy cảm với âm thanh
3
Are cities noisier than the countryside?
SAMPLE ANSWER
Generally, yes, because cities have more traffic, construction and people. In the countryside, there may be natural sounds or farm machinery, but they’re usually less constant. However, I wouldn’t say the countryside is always silent. If someone lives next to a busy road or construction site, it can still be noisy. So location within an area matters too.
USEFUL VOCABULARY
farm machinerymáy móc nông nghiệp
less constantít liên tục hơn
construction sitecông trường xây dựng
4
What kinds of noise do people experience every day?
SAMPLE ANSWER
Traffic is probably one of the most common sources, especially in large cities. People also hear construction, neighbours, music, phones and household appliances. Some noises become so familiar that we hardly notice them anymore. For example, someone living beside a main road may eventually stop paying much attention to traffic noise, while a visitor notices it immediately.
USEFUL VOCABULARY
hardly notice something anymoregần như không còn để ý đến điều gì
a common source of noisenguồn tiếng ồn phổ biến
main roadđường lớn
5
Should there be restrictions on how much noise children can make?
SAMPLE ANSWER
Hmm, I’d be careful with that because children naturally make noise when they play. Expecting them to stay quiet all the time would be unrealistic. But parents should teach them that some situations require quieter behaviour, especially late at night or in places like libraries. So rather than strict restrictions, children probably need to learn when to keep their voices down.
USEFUL VOCABULARY
keep your voice downnói nhỏ lại
quieter behaviourcách cư xử yên tĩnh hơn
strict restrictionsnhững hạn chế nghiêm ngặt
6
Can noise ever be good for children?
SAMPLE ANSWER
I suppose some noise can be. A completely silent environment isn’t necessary for learning or development. Children learn through talking, playing, singing and interacting with other people, and those activities naturally create sound. For example, a lively classroom during a group activity can be noisy but still full of productive learning. The problem is excessive or constant noise that makes it difficult for children to concentrate.
USEFUL VOCABULARY
full of productive learningcó nhiều hoạt động học tập hiệu quả
excessive noisetiếng ồn quá mức
make it difficult to concentratekhiến việc tập trung trở nên khó khăn
