Describe a time when you changed an important opinion of yours.

If I have to talk about a time I changed an important opinion, I would definitely like to tell you about changing the way I thought about group work.

Personally, I think it was quite an important change because group projects are something I have to do quite often at school.

I used to dislike group work because I thought working alone was always faster and easier.

My opinion changed last year when we had to prepare a presentation for one of our classes.

At first, I wasn’t happy because the teacher put me in a group with students I didn’t normally work with.

I expected that some people wouldn’t do their share and I’d end up doing most of the work myself.

But it turned out completely differently.

One student was excellent at designing slides, another was confident at presenting, and I was better at organising the information.

Because everyone played to their strengths, the final presentation was much better than anything I could have produced alone.

That doesn’t mean I now love every group project. Sometimes group work can still be frustrating if people don’t contribute equally.

But the experience made me realise that working with others can be really effective when everyone takes responsibility.

I was actually glad to change my opinion because it taught me not to judge a situation too quickly.
