If I have to talk about a building I enjoy visiting, I would definitely like to tell you about a large bookstore and library in the city centre.
Personally, I think it’s such a relaxing place because I can study, read and spend some time alone there.
I first found out about it through one of my friends, who told me that there was a quiet study area on the second floor.
The building itself is quite modern. It has large glass windows, several floors and plenty of natural light. There are bookshelves everywhere, but there are also comfortable chairs and tables where people can study.
The first time I went there, I expected it to be a bit boring because I thought it was just another bookstore. But it turned out to have a really relaxing atmosphere.
I found a quiet corner, bought a drink and studied there for almost three hours. Surprisingly, I was able to stay focused much longer than I normally could at home.
Now I go there from time to time, especially when I have an exam coming up or just want to get out of the house.
I really enjoy visiting it because I can concentrate there without feeling stressed. For me, it’s a great place to switch off for a while.

Nếu phải nói về một tòa nhà mình thích đến, mình chắc chắn muốn kể về một hiệu sách kết hợp thư viện lớn ở trung tâm thành phố.

Mình biết đến nơi này qua một người bạn. Bạn ấy nói với mình rằng tầng hai có một khu học tập rất yên tĩnh.
Tòa nhà khá hiện đại, có những cửa kính lớn, nhiều tầng và rất nhiều ánh sáng tự nhiên. Khắp nơi đều có giá sách nhưng cũng có ghế và bàn thoải mái để mọi người học tập.
Lần đầu đến, mình nghĩ nơi đó sẽ hơi chán vì tưởng chỉ là một hiệu sách bình thường. Nhưng hóa ra không khí ở đó thực sự rất thư giãn.
Mình tìm một góc yên tĩnh, mua đồ uống và học gần ba tiếng. Điều bất ngờ là mình có thể tập trung lâu hơn rất nhiều so với khi học ở nhà.
Bây giờ thỉnh thoảng mình vẫn đến đó, đặc biệt khi sắp có kỳ thi hoặc đơn giản là muốn ra khỏi nhà.
Mình thích đến đó vì có thể tập trung mà không cảm thấy căng thẳng. Với mình, đó là một nơi tuyệt vời để tạm thời thư giãn đầu óc.

Should old buildings be demolished?
SAMPLE ANSWER
Hmm, I don’t think there’s a simple yes-or-no answer. If an old building is historically significant, I think it should be protected because once it’s destroyed, we can’t really replace its history. But some old buildings may be unsafe or have no particular cultural value. For example, if an apartment building is falling apart and putting residents at risk, replacing it with a safer one probably makes sense. So I’d look at the condition and value of the building rather than just its age.

Why are some old buildings valuable?
SAMPLE ANSWER
Well, I guess their value isn’t always about money. Some buildings tell us something about the past, like how people lived or what architecture was like hundreds of years ago. They can also become part of a city’s identity. For example, if every old building were replaced by the same modern apartment blocks, different cities might start to look very similar. So preserving some old buildings can help a city keep its character.

Do people prefer modern buildings nowadays?
SAMPLE ANSWER
I’m not really sure because it probably depends on what the building is used for. For homes and offices, people may prefer modern buildings because they’re often better equipped and more convenient. But when people travel, they often want to see traditional buildings because they’re more unusual and interesting. Personally, I’d rather live in a modern apartment but visit an old historic building as a tourist.
