If I have to talk about a course that impressed me a lot, I would definitely like to tell you about an English speaking course I took last summer.
Personally, I think it was such a useful course because it helped me build my confidence when speaking English.
I took the course at a small English centre near my house. There were about ten students in the class, and most of us were high school students.
Before taking the course, I knew quite a lot of grammar and vocabulary, but I was always afraid of making mistakes when I spoke English.
At first, I thought the teacher would just teach us more grammar, but it turned out to be completely different. We spent most of the class discussing everyday topics, doing role plays and working in pairs.
The teacher encouraged us to express our own ideas instead of memorizing perfect answers. Gradually, I became more comfortable speaking in front of other people.
What impressed me most was that I could actually see my own progress. By the end of the course, I could speak more naturally without worrying about every single mistake.
So overall, it was a really valuable experience, and it completely changed the way I learn English.

Giáo viên khuyến khích chúng mình diễn đạt ý tưởng của chính mình thay vì học thuộc câu trả lời hoàn hảo. Dần dần, mình cảm thấy thoải mái hơn khi nói trước mọi người.
Điều khiến mình ấn tượng nhất là mình thực sự nhìn thấy sự tiến bộ của bản thân. Đến cuối khóa, mình có thể nói tự nhiên hơn mà không lo lắng về từng lỗi nhỏ.
Nhìn chung, đó là một trải nghiệm rất đáng giá và thay đổi hoàn toàn cách mình học tiếng Anh.

Why do some people remember things better than others?
SAMPLE ANSWER
Hmm, I’m not really sure, but I guess there are several reasons. Some people may naturally have a better memory, while others remember things well because they use them regularly. For example, I can remember English words that I use in conversations quite easily, but I often forget words that I only see once in a textbook. So I don’t think memory is just about natural ability; the way we learn something probably matters too.

Does technology make people’s memory worse?
SAMPLE ANSWER
That’s an interesting one. I think it might, to some extent, because nowadays we rely heavily on technology to remember things for us. For example, I don’t know most of my friends’ phone numbers because they’re all saved on my phone. On the other hand, technology also gives us tools to learn and review information more easily. So I’m not sure technology itself is the problem; maybe we just use our memory differently now.

Is it better to remember things through words or pictures?
SAMPLE ANSWER
I think it depends on the person and also what they’re trying to remember. Personally, pictures stick in my mind more easily when I’m learning vocabulary because I can connect a word with an image. But if I’m studying something like grammar, written explanations might be more useful. So I don’t think one method works best for everything.

Why do people take photos of important events?
SAMPLE ANSWER
Well, probably because photos help us keep memories alive. As time goes by, we tend to forget small details, like what someone was wearing or what a place looked like. But when you look at an old photo, it can immediately bring back memories. For example, when I look at photos from a family holiday a few years ago, I can remember things that I hadn’t thought about for ages.

What kinds of things do people usually want to remember?
SAMPLE ANSWER
Let me think… probably things that have emotional value, like family trips, birthdays, graduations or important achievements. People don’t usually take photos of every normal school day, but they do when something special happens. I think that’s because those moments mark an important stage in their lives. Of course, it varies from person to person because what feels important to me may not be important to someone else.

Is learning about the past important?
SAMPLE ANSWER
Yeah, I think so, although I’m not a huge fan of history myself. Learning about the past can help us understand how society has changed and why certain things are the way they are today. It can also help people avoid repeating some mistakes from the past. But I don’t think students should just memorize hundreds of dates because they’ll probably forget them after the exam. Understanding the reasons behind events seems much more useful to me.
