PART 2+3Giải đề Speaking Quý 3/2026
Describe a change that you made recently.
IELTS SPEAKING PART 2
Describe a change that you made recently.
You should say:
- What the change was
- What caused you to make it
- What you did
- And explain how you feel about the change
PART 2 · SAMPLE ANSWER
If I have to talk about a change I made recently, I would definitely like to tell you about changing my sleeping routine.
Personally, I think it’s been such a useful change because I used to stay up far too late, especially on school nights.
A few months ago, I noticed that I was feeling tired almost every morning and sometimes struggled to concentrate during my first lessons.
The main problem was my phone. I often finished my homework at around ten, but instead of going to bed, I would watch videos or reply to messages.
At first, I thought staying up for another hour wasn’t a big deal.
But it gradually started to take a toll on me, especially when I had to wake up early for school.
So I decided to leave my phone on my desk rather than beside my bed and try to go to sleep before eleven.
The first few nights were surprisingly difficult because I kept wanting to check my phone.
But after about two weeks, I got used to the new routine.
Now I usually wake up feeling much more refreshed, and I can concentrate better in the morning.
I’m not perfect and I still stay up late occasionally, especially at weekends.
But overall, I’m really glad I made the change because I’ve realised that getting enough sleep makes a noticeable difference to my day.

Discussion Questions
5 câu hỏi
1
Do young people change their routines more easily than older people?
SAMPLE ANSWER
Probably in many cases, because younger people may have fewer fixed responsibilities and be more open to trying new things. An older person who’s followed the same routine for twenty years may find it harder to break an established habit. But I wouldn’t say age is the only factor. If someone has a strong reason to change, like a health issue or a new job, they may adapt quickly at any age.
USEFUL VOCABULARY
break an established habitphá bỏ một thói quen đã hình thành lâu
be open to trying new thingscởi mở với việc thử điều mới
adapt quicklythích nghi nhanh
2
Why do people make plans around their routines?
SAMPLE ANSWER
I think routines make life more predictable. If you know you work from nine to five or exercise every evening, you can arrange other activities around those fixed points. Without any routine, people may find it harder to manage their time efficiently. But plans also need some flexibility because unexpected things happen all the time.
USEFUL VOCABULARY
make life more predictablekhiến cuộc sống dễ dự đoán hơn
manage time efficientlyquản lý thời gian hiệu quả
fixed pointsnhững mốc cố định
3
How can getting a promotion change someone’s life?
SAMPLE ANSWER
A promotion may bring more money and a sense of achievement, but it often brings more responsibility too. Someone may need to manage other employees, work longer hours or deal with more pressure. For example, a person might be excited about becoming a manager but later realise they have less free time with their family. So a promotion can improve someone’s career while making other parts of life more complicated.
USEFUL VOCABULARY
deal with more pressuređối mặt với nhiều áp lực hơn
a sense of achievementcảm giác thành tựu
bring more responsibilitymang lại nhiều trách nhiệm hơn
4
Why do people change jobs?
SAMPLE ANSWER
Money is one reason, but definitely not the only one. Some people leave because they don’t enjoy the working environment or see no opportunity for growth. Others may want shorter working hours or a job closer to home. For example, someone with young children might accept slightly lower pay if it gives them more family time. So people’s priorities can change as their lives change.
USEFUL VOCABULARY
see no opportunity for growthkhông thấy cơ hội phát triển
working environmentmôi trường làm việc
slightly lower paymức lương thấp hơn một chút
5
Why is it sometimes difficult to change a routine?
SAMPLE ANSWER
Because familiar routines require very little mental effort. Even if a habit isn’t particularly good, it feels comfortable because people know exactly what to expect. Starting a new routine requires conscious effort until it becomes automatic. That’s why someone may genuinely want to exercise every morning but still slip back into their old routine after a few days.
USEFUL VOCABULARY
slip back into an old routinequay lại thói quen cũ
conscious effortnỗ lực có ý thức
become automatictrở thành tự động/thành thói quen
