PART 2+3Giải đề Speaking Quý 3/2026
Describe a person who learns history and loves history.
IELTS SPEAKING PART 2
Describe a person who learns history and loves history.
You should say:
- Who this person is
- How this person learns history
- Why this person loves history
- And explain how you feel about this person
PART 2 · SAMPLE ANSWER
If I have to talk about someone who really loves learning history, I would definitely like to tell you about one of my classmates.
Personally, I think he’s such an interesting person because he can talk about historical events as if they were stories rather than boring facts.
I’ve known him since we started high school together. While most of us only study history when there’s a test coming up, he actually reads about it in his free time.
He usually watches documentaries, reads articles and sometimes listens to podcasts about historical events and famous people.
At first, I couldn’t understand why he was so interested in history because I used to think it was mostly about memorising dates and names.
But one day, we were talking about an important event we’d learned about in class, and he explained what ordinary people’s lives were like at that time. It suddenly made the topic much more interesting.
He told me that what he likes most about history is understanding why things happened rather than just knowing what happened.
Since then, I’ve started asking him questions whenever I don’t understand something in history class.
I really admire him because he’s genuinely curious and can make a difficult subject come alive. He’s actually made me a little more interested in history too.

Discussion Questions
6 câu hỏi
1
Besides big historical events, what else is important when learning history?
SAMPLE ANSWER
Well, I think learning about ordinary people’s daily lives is really useful too. Big wars and political events tell us what happened to a country, but they don’t always show what life was actually like for normal families. For example, I find it interesting to know what people ate, how children went to school or what jobs people did in the past. Those details make history feel more real instead of just being a list of dates.
USEFUL VOCABULARY
ordinary people’s daily livescuộc sống hàng ngày của người bình thường
make history feel more realkhiến lịch sử trở nên chân thực hơn
a list of datesmột danh sách ngày tháng
2
Should people learn ancient history before modern history?
SAMPLE ANSWER
Hmm, I’m not sure it has to be in that exact order. Ancient history can help people understand where a society came from, but modern history is probably more directly connected to the world we live in today. For example, understanding a war that happened a hundred years ago may explain why two countries have a particular relationship now. So I think both are important, and teachers could probably connect them rather than treating them as completely separate periods.
USEFUL VOCABULARY
where a society came fromnguồn gốc của một xã hội
be directly connected tocó liên hệ trực tiếp với
separate periodsnhững giai đoạn riêng biệt
3
Is it important to learn how people lived in the past?
SAMPLE ANSWER
Yeah, I think so because it gives us a better idea of how much life has changed. We sometimes complain about small things today, but people in the past may not have had electricity, modern medicine or easy transport. Learning about that can make us appreciate some things we now take for granted. At the same time, it can also show that people in the past had their own ways of solving problems.
USEFUL VOCABULARY
how much life has changedcuộc sống đã thay đổi nhiều đến mức nào
take something for grantedcoi điều gì là hiển nhiên
solve problemsgiải quyết vấn đề
4
How do children learn history before they attend school?
SAMPLE ANSWER
Let me think… probably mainly through their family, stories and cartoons. Parents or grandparents may tell them about things that happened when they were younger, even if they don’t call it history. Children might also visit museums or historical places during family trips. For example, a child can learn something about an old building simply by asking why it looks different from modern ones.
USEFUL VOCABULARY
through their familythông qua gia đình
historical placesđịa điểm lịch sử
family tripschuyến đi cùng gia đình
5
At what age should children start learning history?
SAMPLE ANSWER
I don’t think there needs to be a strict age. Young children probably don’t need to memorise complicated timelines, but they can start with simple stories about the past. As they get older, teachers can introduce causes, consequences and different viewpoints. If history is taught in an interesting way from a young age, children may be less likely to see it as a boring subject later.
USEFUL VOCABULARY
simple stories about the pastnhững câu chuyện đơn giản về quá khứ
causes and consequencesnguyên nhân và hậu quả
different viewpointsnhững góc nhìn khác nhau
6
Why should children learn history early?
SAMPLE ANSWER
I suppose one reason is that it helps them understand their own culture and community. Children see festivals, old buildings and traditions around them, but they may not know where these things came from. History can give those things some meaning. Also, learning about the past early may encourage children to ask questions instead of just accepting everything they see.
USEFUL VOCABULARY
understand their own culture and communityhiểu văn hóa và cộng đồng của mình
where something came fromnguồn gốc của điều gì
encourage children to ask questionskhuyến khích trẻ đặt câu hỏi
