PART 2+3Giải đề Speaking Quý 3/2026
Describe an advertisement with a famous person in it.
IELTS SPEAKING PART 2
Describe an advertisement with a famous person in it.
You should say:
- Who the famous person is
- Where you saw the advertisement
- What the advertisement was about
- And explain how you felt about it
PART 2 · SAMPLE ANSWER
If I have to talk about an advertisement featuring a famous person, I would definitely like to tell you about a sportswear advertisement I saw online.
Personally, I think it was quite memorable because it featured a well-known athlete rather than just showing the product.
I first saw it on YouTube a few months ago before a video I wanted to watch.
The advertisement showed the athlete training early in the morning, running in bad weather and continuing even when he looked exhausted.
At first, I thought it was simply going to be another ad trying to sell expensive trainers.
But instead of focusing heavily on the shoes, it focused more on discipline and not giving up.
The athlete talked briefly about how success comes from training even on days when you don’t feel motivated.
I actually found that part quite inspiring because it felt more like a short story than a normal commercial.
Of course, I knew the company was still trying to promote its brand, so I didn’t completely forget that it was advertising.
But I think using a famous athlete made sense because his image matched the message.
Overall, the ad stuck in my mind because it connected the product with an idea rather than simply saying it was good.

Discussion Questions
6 câu hỏi
1
Are online advertisements more effective than traditional advertisements?
SAMPLE ANSWER
I think they can be because companies can target specific groups of people based on age, interests or browsing behaviour. A sports company, for example, can show ads mainly to people who already watch fitness videos. Traditional ads like billboards reach everyone, but many viewers may have no interest in the product. On the other hand, online ads can become annoying because people see them so often.
USEFUL VOCABULARY
target specific groups of peoplenhắm đến những nhóm người cụ thể
browsing behaviourhành vi lướt mạng
have no interest in somethingkhông quan tâm đến điều gì
2
Why is advertising important for companies?
SAMPLE ANSWER
Because even a good product won’t sell if people don’t know it exists. Advertising helps companies build brand awareness and explain why customers might choose their product over another one. It’s especially important for new businesses that don’t already have loyal customers. But if the product itself is poor, advertising can only help for a limited time because people eventually share negative reviews.
USEFUL VOCABULARY
build brand awarenessxây dựng nhận diện thương hiệu
loyal customerskhách hàng trung thành
choose one product over anotherchọn sản phẩm này thay vì sản phẩm khác
3
Why are some advertisements boring?
SAMPLE ANSWER
Probably because they all use similar ideas or give too much information. If an advertisement simply lists ten product features, people may stop paying attention. Successful ads usually have a clear message, humour or a short story that grabs people’s attention quickly. Since people see so many ads every day, companies have only a few seconds to make someone interested.
USEFUL VOCABULARY
grab someone’s attentionthu hút sự chú ý của ai
product featurescác tính năng sản phẩm
a clear messagethông điệp rõ ràng
4
What is the most important factor in a good advertisement?
SAMPLE ANSWER
For me, it needs to be memorable without being misleading. Creativity is useful, but people should still understand what the product actually is. I’ve seen funny advertisements where I remember the joke but can’t remember what company it was for, which probably isn’t very effective. So ideally, a good advertisement should leave a strong impression while still communicating the product clearly.
USEFUL VOCABULARY
leave a strong impressionđể lại ấn tượng mạnh
be misleadinggây hiểu lầm
communicate the product clearlytruyền tải rõ về sản phẩm
5
Why do companies use celebrities in advertisements?
SAMPLE ANSWER
Mostly because celebrities already have attention and trust from fans. If a popular athlete recommends a sports product, some people may believe the product is more reliable. Celebrities can also make a brand more recognizable. But I think the connection needs to make sense. If someone famous for singing suddenly advertises a complicated financial product, I might not trust their opinion very much.
USEFUL VOCABULARY
make a brand more recognizablekhiến thương hiệu dễ nhận biết hơn
trust someone’s opiniontin vào ý kiến của ai
make sensehợp lý
6
What are the disadvantages of celebrity advertising?
SAMPLE ANSWER
One problem is that companies may depend too much on the celebrity’s image. If that person gets involved in a scandal, the brand can also suffer damage to its reputation. Another issue is that celebrities may promote products they don’t actually use, so the recommendation can feel dishonest. And obviously, hiring a very famous person can be extremely expensive.
USEFUL VOCABULARY
suffer damage to its reputationchịu tổn hại về danh tiếng
get involved in a scandaldính vào bê bối
feel dishonesttạo cảm giác không chân thật
